Dharan is a Sub-Metropolitian city in Sunsari district, Provience 1,eastern Nepal situated at the foothill of mahabharat range and its lower part is connected with Tarai. It is the gateway for Dhankuta, Mount Everest, Basantapur (largest flower garden). Koshi highway runs through the heart or Dharan connected with Jogmani (nepal india border), Biratnagar, Itahari (Junction with mahendra highway), Bhedetar, Dhankuta, Kimathanka (Nepal china border).

Geography
Dharan is situated at the base of hill and corner part of tarai at the altitude of 349 m (1148 ft.).
Lowest elevation (tarahara) is 119 m and highest elevation (Bhedetar) is 1778 m (5833 ft.). It's total area is 192.32 square kilometer among which 4.4 square kilometer is water.

The total population of Dharan city is 141432 and population density is 734.33 person per square kilometer. The people of Dharan follow different religions and prey their god on their own way. The Singshore Bridge, Ghum Monastery and, Senchal Lake and Wildlife Sanctuary are other attractions in the vicinity of Dharan, while the rejuvenating hill stations of Bhedetar and Namche with the best view-points in the entire Terai region are located at a short driving distance from Dharan.
